Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada hasil pengamatan peneliti di kelas VII-3, ditemukan bahwa pemahaman konsep peserta didik masih sangat kurang. Hal ini dikarenakan metode pembelajaran guru yang monoton, pembelajaran IPS yang sering dianggap sebagai mata pelajaran yang berisi banyak hafalan materi. Selain itu, hanya beberapa peserta didik yang memiliki buku cetak untuk belajar dan mengulang materi di rumah, serta kurangnya kerja sama antara peserta didik yang memiliki keunggulan pada bidang akademik denganpeserta didik yang memiliki tingkat kognitif rata-rata atau di bawah. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, peneliti bersama guru mentor memutuskan untuk dapat menerapkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC, dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut. Melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe CIRC, diharapkan dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua kali penerapan tindakan yang melibatkan 25 orang peserta didik kelas VII-3.Instrumen yang peneliti gunakan dalam mengumpulkan data adalah, lembar umpan balik mentor, lembar observasi guru mentor dan rekan sejawat, jurnal refleksi, dan hasil tes peserta didik. Dalam menganalisis data-data yang ada, peneliti menggunakan teknik analisis statistic deskriptif. Keseluruhan data instrumen tersebut menunjukkan hasil bahwa implementasi model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VII pada mata pelajaran IPS Terpadu. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan meningkatnya pemahaman konsep peserta dari 60 di tindakan I menjadi 84 di tindakan II. / This research is based on the result of observation of researcher in grade VII-3. The researcher found that students’ conceptual understanding are less. This is because the learning method that used by the teacher is monotonous, Social Subjects are often regarded as subject that contain a lot of memorization. Other than that, only a few students have book to study and repeat the materials at home, and the lack of cooperation between students who are excellence in the academic and who are average or below. Therefore. Based on that, the researcher and the teacher decided to using cooperative learning type CIRC to solve students’ conceptual understanding. The research method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This research is consist of two applications of the action including 25 students of grade VII-3 in Palopo. The instruments used to collect data are feedback sheets of mentor, observation sheets of mentor and colleague, reflection journal, and the results of students. In analyzing the data, researcher use descriptive statistical techniques. The whole instrument data shows that the implementation of cooperative learning type Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition can improve students’ conceptual understanding, of grade VII of Social subjects.This is indicated by the increasing students’ conceptual understanding, from 60 in first action to 84 in second action.
