Abstract

Hasil observasi pada kelas VIII di salah satu Sekolah Kristen Palopo, ditemukan bahwa pemahaman konsep peserta didik masih rendah. Hal ini dilihat berdasarkan proses pembelajaran di kelas, melalui tanya jawab, presentasi dan review pembelajaran, yakni siswa kurang mampu menjelaskan konsep dengan pemahaman sendiri, kurang mampu menguasai konsep dan terlalu bergantung dengan buku pelajaran. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik mengalami kesulitan untuk memahami berbagai konsep pembelajaran. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut, maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Talk Write (TTW) yang dinilai dapat mengakomodasi siswa dalam pemahaman konsep. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) Pelton, yang terdiri atas dua penerapan dengan empat pertemuan yang melibatkan 25 siswa kelas VIII. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar umpan balik guru mentor dan rekan sejawat, lembar observasi, angket siswa, tes dan jurnal refleksi. Hasil pengumpulan data dianalisis menggunakan teknis statistik deskriptif, dengan perolehan hasil keseluruhan skor per indikator pada penerapan I sebesar 74,44 menjadi 80,13 pada penerapan II. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa implementasi model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TTW dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VIII pada pelajaran IPS Terpadu materi Ketenagakerjaan. / Based on issue identification on grade VIII, the reseracher found that students have a problem on their conceptual uderstanding. It can be seen from the learning process in the classroom, through questions and answers, presentation and review of learning, that the students are less able to explain the concept with their own understanding, less able to master the concept and too dependent to textbooks. This shows that students have difficulty understanding various concepts of learning. Based on these problems, this study aims to improve the understanding of students’ concepts through the application of the cooperative learning type Think Talk Write (TTW) which is considered to accommodate students in understanding concepts. The reseracher uses Pelton class action research (CAR), consists of two applications with four meetings involving 25 students of VIII class. The instruments used in this research were teacher mentor and peer feedback sheets, observation sheets, student questionnaires, tests and reflection journals. The results of data collection were analyzed using technical descriptive statistics, with the acquisition of the overall score per indicator on the application of I of 74.44 to 80.13 in the application of II. The results show that the implementation of the TTW type cooperative learning model can improve the conceptual understanding of class VIII students on Integrated Social Studies material on Employment material.
