Abstract

Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan oleh peneliti pada kelas XI IIS di salah satu SMA Kristen di Sangihe, peneliti melihat bahwa siswa memiliki masalah pada pemahaman konsep matematis sedangkan pemahaman konsep sangat penting terutama dalam pembelajaran matematika sebab matematika bukan ilmu yang menekankan hafalan atas prosedural pengerjaan soal matematika. Matematika adalah ilmu yang membutuhkan pemahaman untuk mempelajari konsep di dalalm kesehariannya karena jika matematika hanyan menekankan hapalan maka akan kesulitan bagi siswa mengerjakan soal matematika sebab matematika mempunyai soal yang kompleks dan tidak bisa diselesaikan dengan hapalan semata butuh pemahaman mendasar atas konsep matematika itu sendiri. Hasil tes siswa menunjukkan bahwa >75% siswa belum dapat menjawab soal tingkat C2 dengan tepat. Masalah ini disebabkan oleh penerapan metode yang diterapkan oleh peneliti yaitu ceramah interaktif tidak mengakomodir pemahaman konsep matematika siswa karena guru lebih aktif sehingga kurang mengetahui sejauh mana siswa memahami konsep. Oleh karena itu, peneliti memilih metode Think Pair Share untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan metode Think Pair Share dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa kelas VII A, dan bagaimana penerapan metode Think, Pair, Share dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VII A. Metode penelitian yang peneliti gunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) model Pelton. Penelitian ini berlangsung dari tanggal 18 Oktober-26 Oktober 2018. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar tes, lembar angket pemahaman konsep, lembar angket pelaksanaan metode, lembar observasi hecklist metode, lembar umpan balik mentor, dan jurnal refleksi. Data yang diperoleh diolah menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan metode Think Pair Shae dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa kelas VII A. Metode Think Pair Share mempunyai tiga tahapan besar yaitu: Thinking, Pairing, Sharing. Di mana tiga tahapan besar ini dibagi lagi kedalam tahapan yang lebih rinci lagi. Pembentukan kelompok dilakukan secara heterogen berdasarkan tingkat kemampuan kognitif siswa. / Based on the observation conducted by researcher on class of vii a of christian high school in sangihe, the researcher saw the student had a problem on mathematical conceptiual understanding. While conceptual understanding very important notably in mathematic because mathematic not a kind of sicence who emphasiezed for mathematic. Mathematic is a kind of sciencewho need understanding in daily because if mathematic just emphasized memorization the student will hart to take thes test because mathematic have a complex question and solved by the memory. Tthe result of the test show more than >75% can answer the problem of level c2 with correct. this is happened because the methode is applied by researcher is interactive lecture do not support of mathematics conceptiual understanding of students. therefore, researcher choose think pair share to improve students’ mathematics conceptiual understanding. this research aimed to know the implementation of think pair share could improve the conceptual understanding matheamtics, and stages of implementation the think pair share could improve the conceptual understanding on VII A the methode of this research is classroom action research by pelton. this research was conducted from october 18 – october 26. the instrument has used instruments used to collect data were students’s test, checklist observations, questionnaires, reflection journal. the results of data processing research was analyzed using qualitative descriptive. Based on this research the implementation of think, pair, share can improve students’ mathematics conceptiual understanding of class VII A. Think Pair Share has a three big step which is a Thinking, Pairing, Sharing and divded to another detailed stages. The group formation is done heterogeneously based on students’ cognitive level.
