Abstract
This research tries to analyze the effect of extrinsic religious orientation,
intrinsic religious orientation, quest religious orientation, intergroup contact on
religious tolerance of John Paul Senior High School students. The results showed
positive effect of extrinsic religious orientation on religious tolerance (path
coefficient 0.068), positive effect of intrinsic religious orientation on tolerance
(path coefficient of 0.214), positive effect of quest religious orientation on
religious tolerance (correlation coefficient 0.349) and positive effect of intergroup
contact on religious tolerance (correlation coefficient 0.584). R square value
obtained from this research is 0.689. Researcher recommends that schools need to
pay attention to several aspects of efforts to foster students' religious tolerance.
These aspects are aspects of contact with other religious groups and aspect of
open-mindedness. The aspect of open-mindedness is part of the quest religious
orientation. These aspects should be considered in the education process at John
Paul Senior High School. / Penelitian ini berupaya melihat pengaruh orientasi religius ekstrinsik,
orientasi religius intrinsik, orientasi religius pencaharian, kontak dengan
kelompok lain beda agama terhadap toleransi beragama siswa John Paul Senior
High School. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh positif orientasi
religius ekstrinsik terhadap toleransi beragama (koefisien jalur 0,068), pengaruh
positif orientasi religius intrinsik dan toleransi (koefisien jalur sebesar 0,214),
pengaruh positif orientasi religius pencaharian terhadap toleransi beragama
(koefisien jalur 0,349), serta pengaruh positif kontak dengan kelompok lain yang
berbeda agama terhadap toleransi beragama (koefisien jalur 0,584). Nilai R square
yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah 0,689. Peneliti merekomendasikan agar
sekolah perlu memperhatikan beberapa aspek dalam upaya menumbuhkan sikap
toleransi beragama para siswa. Aspek tersebut adalah aspek kontak dengan
kelompok beragama lain dan juga aspek keterbukaan pikiran. Aspek keterbukaan
pikiran merupakan bagian dari orientasi religius pencaharian. Aspek-aspek
tersebut hendaknya diperhatikan dalam proses pendidikan di John Paul Senior
High School.
