Abstract
Mastery of concepts, critical thinking, and communication skills, are
essential components in learning mathematics. Each student is expected to have
these competence in learning mathematics to be able to solve problems. This
research aims to analyze the implementation of Realistic Mathematics
Education(RME), the increment of concepts‟ mastery, critical thinking skills, and
communication skills of students by implementing Realistic Mathematics
Education (RME) method. This research was conducted on students of class XI
Senior High School LENTERA HARAPAN Curug-Tangerang during March
2017. The research method applied is Classroom Action Research (CAR).
Research subject were 31 students. The data was obtained by the post-test results,
observation sheets, and student questionnaires.Based on the results obtained, all of
the steps of RME method based on the characteristics could be implemented well
in the mathematics lesson, students' mastery of concepts increased in the third
cycle; the students who achieve the standard minimum are 80%, pass the
requirement standard which is 75%.Critical thinking skills also increased in the
third cycle with the achievement of 83.33% on the observations and the result of
student questionnaires is more than 75% answered strongly agree and agree.The
minimum standard requirement of critical thinking skills‟ mastery is
75%.Communication skills also achieved the same thing, which is increase at
third cycle with the achievement of 90% of the total number of students reached
minimum standard and more than 75% of the number of students answered the
questionnaire with strongly agree and agree. The minimum standard requirement
of communication skills is 75%. / Penguasaan konsep, keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan
berkomunikasi merupakan kompetensi yang sangat dibutuhkan dalam pelajaran
matematika. Setiap siswa diharapkan memiliki kompetensi tersebut dalam
pembelajaran matematika agar mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis penerapan metode Realistic
Mathematics Education (RME), peningkatan penguasaan konsep, keterampilan
berpikir kritis, dan keterampilan berkomunikasi siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan
pada siswa kelas XI SMA LENTERA HARAPAN Curug – Tangerang selama
bulan Maret 2017. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan
Kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian berjumlah 31 siswa. Data diperoleh dari hasil
post-test, lembar observasi, dan angket siswa. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh
yaitu semua langkah-langkah metode RME berdasarkan karakteristiknya dapat
diterapkan dalam pembelajaran matematika, penguasaan konsep siswa meningkat
pada siklus tiga dengan siswa yang mencapai KKM 80 %, melewati syarat
ketuntatasan yaitu 75 %. Keterampilan berpikir kritis meningkat pada siklus tiga
dengan pencapaian 83,33 % pada hasil observasi dan hasil angket siswa
menunjukkan lebih dari 75 % menjawab sangat setuju dan setuju. Syarat
ketuntasan keterampilan berpikir kritis adalah 75%. Keterampilan berkomunikasi
juga mengalami peningkatan, semakin meningkat pada siklus tiga dengan
pencapaian 90 % dari jumlah siswa mencapai KKM dan lebih dari 75 % dari
jumlah siswa yang menjawab angket dengan sangat setuju dan setuju. Syarat
ketuntasan keterampilan berpikir kritis adalah 75%.
