Abstract

Hospitality is an attitude that gives room for new differences and values that may be brought by guests or foreigners. The term "foreigner" in a broad sense. The term does not only refer to strangers in denotative meaning, namely people who are of different geographical origin who come to a foreign territory for him so that he becomes a guest or migrant. The foreigners intended in this study were other people who differed both religion and ethnicity with research subjects — female principals with Toba Batak Christian background. This study examines three things. First, whether the culture of the Toba Batak leadership influences the interaction of female principals with teachers, employees, students, and parents of students of different religions or ethnicities. Second, how is the hospitality of the female principals with the Toba Batak Christian background. Third, what is the level of cultural intelligence of female principals with Toba Batak Christian backgrounds. This type of research is qualitative research using case study methods. Data obtained through interviews, documentation and surveys. The results of the study show that the communication of four female principals in both formal and informal situations is relatively good. However, one principal is still relatively affected by his tribal ties. Hospitality aspects that change the status quo of the four subjects are relatively prominent. They are generally willing to involve teachers or employees to take strategic policies. The female leaders with the Toba Batak Christian background are generally very strict in enforcing the rules. The survey results show that having a relatively high level of cultural intelligence, the average score reaches 4.94 (70.54% on a scale of 1 to 7). / Hospitalitas merupakan sikap memberi ruang bagi perbedaan dan nilai-nilai baru yang mungkin dibawa oleh tamu atau pun orang asing. Istilah “orang asing” dalam artian luas. Istilah tersebut tidak hanya mengacu kepada orang asing dalam makna denotatif, yaitu orang yang berbeda asal geografis yang datang ke suatu wilayah asing baginya sehingga ia menjadi tamu atau pendatang. Orang asing yang dimaksudkan dalam kajian ini adalah orang lain yang berbeda baik agama maupun etnik dengan subjek penelitian—perempuan kepala sekolah berlatar Kristen Batak Toba. Penelitian ini meneliti tiga hal. Pertama, apakah budaya kepemimpinan Batak Toba memengaruhi interaksi para perempuan kepala sekolah dengan para guru, karyawan, murid, serta orang tua murid yang berbeda agama atau etnik dengannya. Kedua, bagimana hospitalitas para perempuan kepala sekolah berlatar Kristen Batak Toba. Ketiga, bagaimana tingkat kecerdasan kultural para perempuan kepala sekolah berlatar Kristen Batak Toba. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara, dokumentasi dan survei. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa komunikasi empat perempuan kepala sekolah baik dalam dalam situasi formal maupun informal terbilang relatif baik. Namun, satu kepala sekolah masih relatif terpengaruh oleh ikatan kesukuannya. Aspek hospitalitas yang mengubah status quo dari keempat subjek tersebut relatif menonjol. Mereka umumnya bersedia melibatkan para guru atau karyawan untuk mengambil kebijakan yang bersifat strategis. Para perempuan pemimpin berlatar Kristen Batak Toba umumnya sangat tegas dalam menegakkan aturan. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa memiliki tingkat kecerdasan kultural relatif tinggi, yaitu skor rata-ratanya mencapai 4,94 (70,54% dalam skala 1 hingga 7).
