Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic represents a substantial danger to world health, economic stability, and civilization in general. Health workers, particularly frontline nurses, face increasing pressure from the community to provide timely and high-quality medical care. This causes nurses to be prone to burnout. Studies on nurses' burnout in the COVID-19 referral hospital are still minimal, so research is needed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of nurses burnout on patient satisfaction mediated by job satisfaction and nurses caring behavior. This study uses PLS-SEM to analyze empirical data obtained by census at the COVID-19 referral hospital. The data collection instrument was a Likert scale questionnaire 1 to 5. A total of 170 nurses were obtained as data sources. This study concluded that nurses burnout had a negative effect on both mediating variables, nurses job satisfaction and nurses caring behavior. The mediating variables were found to have a significant and positive effect on patient satisfaction where a stronger influence came from job satisfaction. The managerial implication of this study is that hospital management should be able to reduce nurses burnout, especially from the personal accomplishment dimension followed by the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization.
