Abstract

Kemampuan menjelaskan, menyebutkan, mengklasifikasikan dan mengaplikasikan konsep ke dalam pemecahan soal adalah bukti siswa sudah memahami konsep yang diajarkan. Memahami sebuah konsep bukan hanya sekedar menghafal. Berdasarkan observasi, ditemukan siswa kesulitan untuk menjelaskan, menyebutkan, mengklasifikasikan, dan mengaplikasikan konsep ke dalam penyelesaian soal. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut, maka peneliti menerapkan metode berpikir berpasangan berbagi sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa pada materi suhu dan pemuaian dan mengetahui langkahlangkah penerapan dari metode berpikir berpasangan berbagi di dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SK Lentera Ambarawa dengan subyek 27 siswa kelas VII. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Pelton dengan lima tahapan pelaksanaan yaitu: identifikasi masalah, pengumpulan data, perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan tindakan dan penilaian hasil. Instrumen yang digunakan di dalam penelitian ini ialah hasil tes siswa dan lembar observasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan, penerapan metode berpikir berpasangan berbagi dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa dari 38% pada tindakan pertama menjadi 59% pada tindakan kedua. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep dengan metode berpikir berpasangan berbagi ialah dengan melaksanakan langkah penerapan, yaitu penyampaian tujuan pembelajaran, pembagian pasangan, penjelasan materi, pemberian tugas, pengerjaan tugas secara individu, diskusi berpasangan, berbagi di depan kelas, penyimpulan materi serta penutup atau evaluasi. Berdasarkan hasil peningkatan tersebut, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode berpikir, berpasangan dan berbagi dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VII Sekolah Kristen Lentera Ambarawa./ Ability to explain, to spell out, to classify, and to apply concept in problem solving is the proof that the students already mastered the concept learned. Understanding a concept is not merely remembering or memorizing material. Based on the observation, the researcher found that students were hard to explain, to spell out, to classify, and to apply concept in problem solving. Based on that issue, the researcher implemented think pair share method to improve the students’ conceptual understanding. This research was aimed to know the improvement of the students’ conceptual understanding on temperature and expansion topic and to know the steps of the implementation of the think pair share method in improving the students’ conceptual understanding. This research was done in SK Lentera Ambarawa involving 27 students of class VII.This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) method of Pelton with five steps, which are issue identification, data collection, action planning, plan activation, and outcome assessment. The intruments used in this research were students’ test sheet and observasion sheet. Based on the result of the research done, the implementation of the think pair share method improved the students’ conceptual understanding from 38% to 59% on temperature and expansion material regarding the steps of the think pair share method, which are telling the lesson objectives, grouping or pairing, explaining the material, giving task about the material, the students were solving the task individually, the students were discussing with their pair, choosing some students to share ther result of their work in front of the class, concluding the material, and closing and evaluation. Thus, the researcher concluded that the implementation of think pair share method improved class VII students’ conceptual understanding in Sekolah Kristen Lentera Ambarawa.
