Abstract
Pemahaman konsep penting bagi siswa untuk menerjemahkan,
menafsirkan, dan mengaplikasikan konsep untuk menyelesaikan masalah
matematika. Namun, fakta yang ditemukan pada siswa kelas XI IPS di salah satu
sekolah Kristen di Tangerang yaitu: kurangnya penguasaan konsep prasyarat,
ketidakmampuan untuk menyatakan ulang masalah program linear ke dalam Sistem
Pertidaksamaan Linear (SPL), dan mengarsir daerah penyelesaian dari SPL pada
diagram Cartesius. Hal ini mengakibatkan siswa tidak mampu untuk menyelesaikan
masalah program linear, dan berdasarkan hasil tes pemahaman konsep ditemukan
hanya tiga dari tujuh (43%) siswa yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal.
Upaya untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah melalui penerapan metode
Numbered Heads Together (NHT) dengan dua tujuan penelitian yaitu untuk
mengetahui metode NHT dapat atau tidak dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep,
dan mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan metode NHT untuk meningkatkan
pemahaman konsep pada materi program linear. Penelitian ini menggunakan
Penelitian Tindakan Kelas menurut Robert P. Pelton yang dimulai dari 18 Juli – 2
November 2018. Indikator untuk mengukur pemahaman konsep yaitu menyatakan
ulang apa yang telah dipelajari, memberi contoh atau kontra contoh dari konsep
yang dipelajari, serta menggunakan, memanfaatkan, dan memilih prosedur atau
operasi tertentu untuk menentukan penyelesaian masalah.
Berdasarkan dua kali penerapan metode NHT, hasil analisis menunjukkan
bahwa terjadi peningkatan pada indikator pemahaman konsep dengan persentase
jumlah siswa yang lulus pada masing-masing indikator sebesar 14,3%, 85,7%, dan
57,1%. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode NHT dapat
meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa, dan langkah-langkah metode NHT antara
lain penomoran, mengajukan pertanyaan, berpikir bersama, dan menjawab./ Conceptual understanding is important for students to translate, interpret
and apply concepts that had been studied to solve mathematic problem. In fact,
students in grade XI Social in one of the Christian schools in Tangerang were lack
of prerequisite concept, unable to restate the problem of linear programming into
Linear Inequalities System (LIS), and shading the solved area of LIS in Cartesius
diagram. In causes the students can not solve linear programming problem and
based on the test result of conceptual understanding there are only three out of seven
(43%) students who pass the minimum passing grade.
In order to solve the problem, the researcher applied Numbered Heads
Together (NHT) method with two research purposes which are to know whether
the NHT method can or not improve conceptual understanding, and to know the
steps of NHT method to improve conceptual understanding in the linear
programming. This research used Classroom Action Research by Robert P. Pelton
during 18th of July to 2nd of November 2018. The indicators to measure conceptual
understanding are restate what had been learned, give example or non-example, and
applying, utilizing and choosing a certain operation to solve the problem.
Based on two times implementation of NHT method, the result showed
improvement on the indicators of conceptual understanding with the percentage of
students who passed each indicator are 14,3 14,3%, 85,7%, dan 57,1%. In
conclusion, the result proved that NHT method can improve the conceptual
understanding of students, and the steps of NHT method are numbering, asking
question, heads together, and answering.
