Abstract
Pelajaran biologi merupakan pelajaran yang membosankan bagi beberapa
siswa, terlebih jika pembelajaran disampaikan dengan metode ceramah. Hal ini
menyebabkan siswa kurang termotivasi dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini
menggunakan Metode Mnemonic (Rhym and Song) dengan tujuan untuk
mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh dari penggunaan metode tersebut terhadap
motivasi belajar biologi siswa.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif pre-experimental, dengan
jenis kelompok one grup pretest-posttest. Populasinya adalah seluruh kelas VII di
sebuah sekolah Kristen swasta Ambon sejumlah 64 siswa, sedangkan sampel
diambil dari salah satu kelas dengan jumlah siswa 32. Instrumen yang digunakan
dalam pengumpulan data berupa angket motivasi belajar. Validitas instrumen diuji
dengan menggunakan uji koefisien rank Spearman dengan bantuan program SPSS
20. Reliabilitas instrumen ditentukan dengan menggunakan Alpha Cronbach dan
diperoleh hasil 0,819 yang menyatakan bahwa Instrumen tersebut reliabel untuk
digunakan. Teknik analisis statistik terhadap dua sampel dependen secara
nonparametris dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji wilcoxon. Hipotesis menyatakan
bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa dengan
menggunakan metode Mnemonic (Rhym and Song) di dalam pembelajaran Biologi
dengan kenaikan rata-rata skor motivasi belajar sebesar 4,75.
P-value yang diperoleh dari hasil Uji Wilcoxon sebesar 0,000 < α = 0,05.
maka Ho ditolak, artinya pada taraf kepercayaan 95% motivasi belajar biologi siswa
setelah diterapkan metode mnemonic (rhym and song) lebih baik (ada kenaikan)
dibandingkan sebelum diterapkannya metode tersebut. Dengan demikian, dapat
disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap motivasi belajar siswa
dengan menggunakan Metode Mnemonic (Rhym and Song). / Biology is quiet a boring subject for some students if it is delivered by
lecturing them directly. This causes less motivated students in the learning process.
This research used Mnemonic (Rhyme and Song) method to know whether any
influence usage the method to increase student learning motivation score in
Biology.
This research is quantitative research, especially pre-experimental, in the
form of one group pretest-posttest. The population for this research was the entire
class VII in a Sekolah Kristen Swasta Ambon, while the sample of this research is
VII-2 students (consist of 32 students). An Instrument for this research are students
response in filling a questionnaire about their motivation. These responses are
treated as pretest and posttest. The validity of the instruments was conducted by
employing Spearman Rank Correlation with SPSS 20. The realibility was
conducted by using Alpha Cronbach. The probability value for reliability was 0.819
and considered reliable to be used. Statistical analysis technique for two dependent
samples was done non-parametricly by using Wilcoxon Test. The hypothesis for
this research is there is significant effect to student learning motivation if
Mnemonic (Rhyme and Song) method is implemented in learning Biology with the
increasing mean of learning motivation by 4.75.
From this research, P-value was 0.000 < α = 0.05. It means that null
hypothesis was rejected, which means in trusting level of 95, student learning
motivation after the implementation of Mnemonic (Rhyme and Song) method was
better (it increased) than before implementing it. Therefore, it can be concluded that
there is an significant effect to student learning motivation if Mnemonic (Rhyme
and Song) is implemented.
