Abstract
Salah satu dari dua tujuan yang paling penting dalam pendidikan yaitu
“mentransfer.” Mentransfer adalah kemampuan untuk menggunakan apa yang telah
dipelajari untuk menyelesaikan masalah-masalah baru, menjawab pertanyaan�pertanyaan baru, atau memudahkan pembelajaran materi pelajaran yang baru.
Tujuan “mentransfer” ini terdiri dari lima tingkatan yang harus dikuasai, salah
satunya adalah penerapan konsep. Dalam menguasai penerapan konsep, siswa
dituntut untuk dapat menggunakan ide dalam situasi yang baru dan konkret. Namun
pada kenyataannya berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan, peneliti
mengidentifikasi terdapat masalah penerapan konsep pangkat tak sebenarnya pada
siswa kelas IX Jakarta. Dalam meresponi keadaan tersebut, peneliti berusaha untuk
meningkatkan penerapan konsep siswa melalui metode think-pair-share (TPS),
serta mengetahui cara metode TPS dapat meningkatkan penerapan konsep siswa.
Penelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 15 Oktober – 18 November 2015 terhadap 6
siswa dengan menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas model Kemmis dan
Taggart. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini berlangsung dalam tiga siklus dengan
masing-masing siklus adalah 2 × 40 menit. Peneliti menggunakan penelitian
tindakan kelas karena dengan penelitian ini, peneliti dapat berperan dalam
menyelesaikan maslah yang ditemukan di dalam kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan
dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar tes, angket siswa, lembar observasi mentor dan
teman sejawat peneliti, lembar wawancara, serta jurnal refleksi peneliti. Dalam
menganalisis data tersebut peneliti menggunakan teknik analisis kualitatif.
Berdasarkan penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara nilai rata-rata
kelas, penerapan konsep siswa dapat ditingkatkan dengan menggunakan metode
TP/ One of the two most important goals in education is “transferring.” “Transferring”
is the ability to use what was learned to solve new problems, to answer new
questions, or to facilitate learning new subject matter. The goal of "transferring" is
composed from five levels that must be mastered, one of them is the application of
the concept. In mastering the application of the concept, students are required to be
able to use the idea in a new situation and concrete. But in reality, based on
observation, researcher identified a learning problem of students in applying the
concept “Falloff Exponent” in class IX Jakarta. Responding to this condition, the
researcher tried to improve the application of the concept of students through think�pair-share (TPS) method, and knowing how it can improve the application of the
concept of students. The research was conducted on October 15 to November 18,
2015 to 6 students by using Classroom Action Research model Kemmis and
Taggart. The research was conducted in three cycles, 2 × 40 minutes for every
cycle. The reason of using classroom action research was to let the researcher
played a role in resolving an issue that was found in the classroom. The instruments
used in this study were a test sheet, student questionnaire, mentor and peer�researchers observation sheets, interview sheet, and researcher’s reflection journal.
In analyzing the data the researchers used a qualitative analysis technique. The
result of this research, in term of the average score of the class concluded that the
application of the concept of students can be improved by using the method of TPS.
