Abstract

Latar Belakang: Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit kronis yang jumlah penderitanya terus meningkat di Indonesia. Diabetes melitus memiliki berbagai komplikasi yang dapat mengurangi kualitas hidup dan bahkan mengancam nyawa. Salah satu tatalaksana diabetes melitus adalah dengan menjalankan pola makan yang baik. Perilaku mengatur pola makan pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe II dapat dilandasi oleh pengetahuan yang mumpuni.Tujuan Penelitian: Mengetahui hubungan tingkat pengetahuan akan penyakit diabetes melitus terhadap pola makan serta pasien diabetes melitus tipe II di Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village Gedung B. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian analitik komparatif kategorik dengan desain studi potong lintang. Data dikumpulkan dari pasien diabetes melitus tipe II Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village Gedung B melalui kuesioner. Hasil: Didapatkan hasil yang signifikan antara tingkat pengetahuan dengan pola makan pada pasien diabetes melitus tipe II dan didapatkan pasien dengan tingkat pengetahuan cukup cenderung memiliki pola makan dengan indeks glikemik sedang sedangkan pasien dengan tingkat pengetahuan kurang cenderung memiliki pola makan dengan indeks glikemik tinggi. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan hasil yang didapatkan tingkat pengetahuan memiliki hubungan dengan pola makan pasien diabetes melitus tipe II. Tingkat pengetahuan yang paling banyak dimiliki pasien diabetes melitus adalah pengetahuan kurang di ikuti dengan pengetahuan cukup dan pengetahuan baik sebesar 37,5%, 35,4%, dan 27,1% secara berurutan. Pola makan yang paling banyak pada pasien diabetes melitus adalah pola makan dengan indeks glikemik rendah di ikuti dengan indeks glikemik tinggi dan indeks glikemik sedang sebesar 41,7%, 31,3%, dan 27,1% secara berurutan./ Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease whose number of patient continues to increase in Indonesia. Diabetes mellitus has various complications that can reduce the quality of life and even threaten life. One of the treatments for diabetes mellitus is to follow a balanced diet consisting of type, amount, and schedule. The behaviour of managing diet in type II diabetes mellitus patients can be based on adequate knowledge of diabetes mellitus. Objective: To know the relationship between the level of knowledge of diabetes mellitus and diet in type II diabetes mellitus patients at Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village Building B. Methods: This research is categorical comparative analytical research with a cross-sectional study design. Data was collected from patients with type II diabetes mellitus at Siloam Hospitals Lippo Village Building B using questionnaires. Results: There were significant results between the level of knowledge and diet in patients with type II diabetes mellitus, it was found that patients with sufficient level of knowledge tended to have a moderate glycemic index food diet, while patients with low level of knowledge tended to have a high glycemic index food diet. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, the level of knowledge has a relationship with the diet of patients with type II diabetes mellitus. The level of knowledge that most type II diabetes mellitus patients have is poor knowledge, followed by sufficient knowledge and good knowledge at 37,5%, 35,4%, and 27,1% sequentially. The most common diet in type II diabetes mellitus patients is a diet with a low glycemic index, followed by a diet with a high glycemic index and a moderate glycemic index at 41,7%, 31,3%, and 27,1% respectively.
