Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between Total Asset Turnover (TATO) and Financial Distress, incorporating Firm Size, Profitability, Leverage, and Liquidity as control variables. The research focuses on 91 manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2021–2023 period, yielding 273 firm-year observations. This analysis is conducted within the context of economic disruptions, such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and rising raw material costs, which have notably impacted the financial stability of the manufacturing sector.Using purposive sampling, the study employs a range of statistical techniques, including descriptive analysis, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression, and hypothesis testing. The findings show that maximizing TATO enables companies to optimize asset utilization, improve operational efficiency, enhance financial strength, and reduce their vulnerability to financial distress. The analysis further reveals that TATO has a significant positive effect on financial stability, reflected in a higher Z-score and a lower likelihood of financial distress. This research contributes to theoretical insights by positioning TATO as a key predictor of financial distress, reinforcing its importance in assessing asset efficiency and financial health. Practically, the study provides actionable insights for corporate managers, investors, and policymakers, emphasizing the critical need for robust asset management and proactive monitoring. These findings highlight the necessity for manufacturing firms to optimize operational efficiency and adapt financial strategies to ensure resilience amidst economic uncertainties.
