Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan sosial merupakan keterampilan yang perlu dikembangkan dalam pendidikan abad 21 untuk menunjang keberhasilan hidup seseorang dengan tidak mengesampingkan kemampuan intelektual siswa. Masalah yang teridentifikasi dalam kelas VII A SPK SMPK PENABUR Kelapa Gading yang memiliki 20 siswa adalah rendahnya keterampilan berpikir kritis dan keterampilan sosial, serta tidak meratanya penguasaan konsep. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) menggunakan metode pembelajaran kooperatif Students Team-Achievement Division (STAD) dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, keterampilan sosial, dan penguasaan konsep dalam bidang studi Biologi. PTK dilakukan dalam tiga siklus dengan durasi masing-masing selama 2 x 70 menit. Proses pengumpulan data penelitian dilakukan melalui pengisian rubrik oleh pengamat dan siswa, serta ujian tertulis individu pada setiap akhir siklus. Berdasarkan perhitungan nilai N-gain, hasil penelitian menunjukkan metode pembelajaran kooperatif STAD berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep pada kategori menengah, serta keterampilan sosial pada kategori rendah./Critical thinking skills along with social skills are skills that need to be developed in a 21st century education in order to help students succeed in life without forgoing students’ cognitive ability. In light of notion, the issue identified in class VII A of SPK SMPK PENABUR Kelapa Gading, which consists of 20 students, appears to be the lack of critical thinking skills and social skills as well as the uneven distribution of concept mastery among the students. Hence, a class-research action which implements the cooperative teaching method Students Teams-Achievement Division (STAD) was conducted with the aim to boost student’s critical thinking skills, social skills and concept mastery in biology class. The class-research action was done in three different cycles, with a duration of 2 x 70 minutes for each cycle. The data collecting process was done by way of a rubric filled in by the observer and students, as well as individual written tests done at the end of every cycle. According to the calculation of the N-gain values, the study indicates that the employment of STAD in class is successful in improving students’ critical thinking skills and concept mastery on moderate level category, as well as social skills on low level category.
