Abstract

Di dalam proses pembelajaran, pemahaman merupakan salah satu tujuan yang penting. Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan di kelas IV-2 SD Kalam Kudus Kosambi, peneliti menemukan masalah yaitu kurangnya pemahaman konsep siswa. Peneliti menemukan siswa kurang dapat memahami penjelasan yang disampaikan melalui verbal saja. Sesuai dengan tahap perkembangannya, siswa membutuhkan penjelasan yang konkret. Melihat dari masalah yang ada, peneliti memutuskan untuk menggunakan media audiovisual dalam proses pembelajaran. Melalui media audiovisual diharapkan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa dan peneliti ingin mengetahui bagaimana media audiovisual bekerja untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep tersebut. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti memakai metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model spriral dari Kemmis dan McTaggart. Penelitian ini dilakukan sejak tanggal 5-12 Oktober 2016. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam dua siklus dengan 24 siswa di dalamnya. Instrumen yang dipakai adalah tes tertulis, observasi guru mentor, observasi teman sejawat, angket siswa, dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Penelitian ini memakai teknik analisis kualitatif untuk menganalisis data dari setiap instrumen. Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemahaman konsep dapat ditingkatkan melalui penggunaan media audiovisual. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan keberhasilan indikator yang dicapai dalam setiap siklus. Setelah peneliti melaksanakan setiap tahapan dari penggunaan media audiovisual, peneliti melihat adanya kenaikan jumlah siswa yang nilainya mencapai KKM dari 71% menjadi 91,67%. Tahapan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan indikator dari pemahaman konsep yaitu siswa mampu menjelaskan pengertian, menjelaskan ulang tentang proses daur hidup hewan, mencontohkan non-contoh dari hewan yang memiliki daur hidup, dan mencirikan tentang hewan yang berdaur hidup./In learning process, understanding is one of the important purposes. Based on the observation in grade IV-2 student at SD Kalam Kudus Kosambi, researcher found that students had difficulty to understand the conceptual understanding. According to their development stage, students need concrete explanation. By looking at this problem, researcher decided to use audiovisual media in the learning process. The goal is to see whether conceptual understanding is able to be improved by the use of audiovisual media and researcher wants to know how the audiovisual media works to increase student’s understanding about the concept. In this research, researcher used Classroom Action Research (CAR) spiral model from Kemmis and McTaggart. This research was conducted since October 5th until 12th 2016. In this research, there were two cycles that researcher used were written test, mentor’s observation, peers’s observation, students’s questionnaire, and researcher’s journal reflection. Researcher used qualitative analysis technique to analyze data from the instruments. From the research, researcher could conclude that conceptual understanding is able to be improved by the use of audiovisual media which can be seen by the progress. Ater the researcher completed the stages of audiovisual media implementation, the researcher could conclude that minimum criteria of conceptual understanding has been increased from 71% to 91,67%. These stage are use to improve the indicator of conceptual understanding which is students are able to explain the definitons, re-explain the process of animal’s life cycle, give examples of animal that has a life cycle, and characterize animal’s life cycle.
