Abstract

Siswa kelas 2 yang berusia 7-8 tahun masih berada dalam tahap anak usia dini. Bagi mereka, konsep-konsep matematika masih abstrak. Masalah yang sering terjadi di kelas 2 SD Lentera Harapan adalah kesulitan dalam memahami konsep perkalian. Hal ini penting bagi siswa untuk memahami konsep dasar perkalian diterapkan untuk memecahkan masalah dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Para guru menyampaikan pelajaran dengan cara monoton daripada menggunakan media untuk membantu siswa memahami konsep perkalian. Akibatnya, siswa tidak menunjukkan pemahaman yang baik tentang konsep dan antusiasme dalam belajar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji bagaimana penggunaan media congklak dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar siswa terhadap perkalian. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini terdiri dari tiga siklus. Setiap siklus memiliki fokus penelitian dalam menyikapi konsep dasar perkalian 3, 4, dan 5. Instrumen penelitian ini meliputi wawancara guru dan siswa, lembar observasi, rubrik, dan tes. Hasil penelitian tindakan kelas ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan congklak dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dan motivasi belajar siswa untuk belajar topik perkalian dalam Matematika. Melalui penggunaan congklak sebagai media pembelajaran, para siswa yang memiliki kemampuan akademik lemah di kelas 2 SD Lentera Harapan Curug mengalami peningkatan dalam memahami konsep perkalian dan senang dalam mengikuti pelajaran matematika / Grade 2 students of 7-8 years old are considered in the early childhood stage. For them, math concepts are still abstract. Problems cited in grade 2 SD Lentera Harapan is the difficulty in understanding the multiplication concept. It is important for students to understand basic concepts of multiplication to be applied to solve problems in everyday life. The teachers delivered the lesson in a monotonous way instead of using media to help students understand the multiplication concepts. As a result, students have not shown good understanding on the concept and enthusiasm in learning. The purpose of this study was to examine how the use of media congklak can improve students’ conceptual understanding and students' motivation to learn multiplication. This classroom action research consisted of three cycles. Each cycle has a research focus in addressing the basic concepts of multiplication 3, 4, and 5. The instruments of this study included interviews of teachers and students, observation sheets, rubrics, and tests. The results of this classroom action research shows that use of media congklak can improve students’ conceptual understanding and student’s motivation to learn multiplication topic in Math. Through the use of congklak as a medium of learning, students with low academic performance in grade 2 SD Lentera Harapan Curug advance in understanding multiplication concept and are delighted in learning Math
