Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil tes matematika materi operasi hitung campuran ditemukan bahwa lebih dari 50% siswa belum mampu menjawab soal-soal yang diberikan, sehingga belum mencapai KKM yang ditetapkan oleh sekolah, yakni 68. Hal tersebut didukung oleh hasil observasi dan hasil wawancara terhadap mentor. Oleh karena itu, metode yang diharapkan mampu untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut ialah Metode Tutor Sebaya. Pada penelitian ini Metode Tutor Sebaya diterapkan dengan tujuan untuk 1) meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika materi Operasi Hitung Campuran dan 2) mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan Metode Tutor Sebaya dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas IV. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Pelton. Penelitian ini memiliki 2 kali penerapan tindakan, dengan subyek penelitian sebanyak 34 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan ialah RPP, umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi peneliti, angket siswa, tes siswa, dan wawancara mentor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pada pencapaian kedua indikator pemahaman konsep. Pada penerapan I, persentase siswa yang mampu menguasai indikator PK-MK adalah sebesar 77% dan indikator PK-KM sebesar 62%. Kemudian pada penerapan II mengalami peningkatan dimana indikator PK-MK dikuasai 87% siswa dan indikator PK-KM dikuasai 78% siswa. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan Metode Tutor Sebaya dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep materi Operasi Hitung Campuran pada siswa kelas IV SLH Sangihe. Adapun langkah-langkah penerapan metode Tutor Sebaya yaitu 1) Memilih siswa yang memiliki kemampuan di atas rata-rata untuk dijadikan tutor, 2) Memberikan pembekalan materi pada tutor, 3) Membagi siswa ke dalam beberapa kelompok yang di dalamnya terdapat 1 tutor, 4) Menjelaskan tugas tutor dan tutee, 5) Menjelaskan materi pembelajaran kepada semua siswa dan memberi peluang tanya jawab apabila terdapat materi yang belum jelas, 6) Memberikan tugas pada siswa, 7) Meminta tutor membantu tutee yang mengalami kesulitan, 8) Mengamati setiap kelompok dan membantu kelompok yang mengalami kesulitan, 9) Memberikan tes kepada siswa dan dikerjakan secara individu, 10) Guru, tutor dan peserta didik memberikan evaluasi proses belajar mengajar. /Based on mathematics test result of mixed calculation operation, researcher found that above 50% student were not able to answer the questions given, therefore it did not fit with standard score that have been set by school which is 68. This is supported by observation result and mentor interview result. Therefore, Peer-Tutor Method was chosen to solve this problem. In this research, Peer-Tutor Method used with purposes 1) to increase mathematical concept understanding in mixed calculation operation and 2) to know the steps in implementing Peer-Tutor Method in increasing grade IV students' concept of understanding. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with Pelton model. This research was done in 2 times of implementation, with subject of the research are 34 students. The instruments used in this research are lesson plan, mentor feedback, researcher reflection journal, student questionnaire, students’ test, and mentor interview. The research result shows an increase of both indicators of concept understanding. On first implementation, the percentage of students who master PK MK indicator are 77% and PK-KM indicator 62%. On second implementation there are 87% of total number of students who master PK-MK indicator and 78% of total number of students who master PK-KM indicator. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the implementation of Peer-Tutor Method is able to increase the mathematical concept understanding in mixed calculation operation lesson of grade IV students in SLH Sangihe. Steps in Peer-Tutor Method are 1)choose above average students to be the tutor, 2) introducing lesson to tutor, 3) divide students into group that consist of 1 tutor, 4) explain the duty of tutor and tutee, 5) explain the lesson to all students and provide Q&A session, 6) given task to students, 7) ask tutor to help tutee who struggling, 8) observe each group and help group who struggle, 9) give individual test to students, 10) teacher, tutor, and tutee evaluate the learning process.
