Abstract

Berdasarkan hasil observasi yang dilakukan oleh peneliti di dalam kelas menunjukan bahwa keaktifan siswa di dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris sangat rendah, hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil checklist pengamatan guru mentor dan rekan sejawat terhadap keaktifan siswa. Keaktifan siswa sangat penting untuk keberhasilan pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan metode Think Pair Share dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dan bagaimakah penerapan metode Think Pair Share mampu meningkatkan keaktifan siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas model Pelton dengan dua kali pelaksanaan tindakan yang dimulai pada 29 Oktober 2018 hingga 30 Oktober 2018, dengan subjek penelitian 22 orang siswa kelas II A di Sekolah Palembang Harapan. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah umpan balik mentor, wawancara mentor, jurnal refleksi yang dianalisis secara deskriptif dan lembar checklist (guru mentor dan rekan sejawat) dianalisis secara deskriptif dan menggunakan perhitungan skala guttman. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukan bahwa keaktifan siswa mengalami peningkatan dengan rata-rata pada indikator satu, yaitu 100% (pada tindakan satu dan dua), indikator dua, yaitu 29% pada tindakan satu dan 46% pada tindakan 2. Sedangkan pada indikator tiga, yaitu 68.1% pada tindakan satu dan 93.1% pada tindakan dua. Hasil checklist guru mentor dan rekan sejawat menunjukan bahwa penerapan metode Think Pair Share sudah diterapkan dan dilakukan dengan baik sesuai dengan langkah-langkahnya./ Based on the results of observations made by the researchers in the classroom, it shows that the activeness of students in learning English is very poor, this is evidenced by the results of a checklist of teacher mentor observations and colleagues on the activeness of the students. Students activeness is very important for the success of learning in the classroom. The purpose of this study is to enhance the activeness of the students by applying the Think Pair Share method and how the application of the Think Pair Share method can enhance students activeness. The research method used was the Pelton model of classroom action research with two actions which began on October 29, 2018, to October 30, 2018, with 22 students of class II A at Palembang Harapan School. The data sources used in this study were the mentor feedback, mentor interviews, reflection journals were analyzed descriptively and checklist sheets (teacher mentors and peer) were analyzed descriptively and used guttman scale calculation. The results obtained show that the activeness of the students had enhance with an average on indicator one, namely 100% (in actions one and two), indicator two, namely 29% in action one and 46% in action 2. While in indicator three, namely 68.1% in action one and 93.1% in action two. The results of the teacher mentor and peer checklist show that the application of the Think Pair Share method has been implemented and done well according to the steps.
