Abstract

Hasil belajar kognitif merupakan kemampuan yang dimiliki siswa setelah menerima pengalaman belajarnya dan berbentuk perubahan yang dapat dilihat dari ranah kognitif. Menurut teori perkembangan, kognitif siswa pada umur 11-12 tahun berada pada tahap operasional formal yang memiliki karakteristik bahwa siswa sudah mampu berpikir proposinal dan mampu mengerjakan tes berdasarkan \indikator C1 (pengetahuan) dan C2 (pemahaman). Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan pengajaran di kelas VI di salah satu SD Kristen di Ambon, didapati bahwa sebagian besar siswa memiliki masalah hasil belajar pada ranah kognitif yaitu siswa belum mampu mengerjakan soal tes berdasarkan indikator C1 dan C2. Metode Think Pair Share dapat membuat siswa lebih berkontribusi dalam pembelajaran sehingga mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk 1) mengetahui penerapan metode Think Pair Share (TPS) dalam meningkatakan hasil belajar kognitif siswa, serta 2) menjelaskan langkah langkah penerapan metode Think Pair Share (TPS) dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan dari tanggal 16 Juli 2018 - 04 September 2018 terhadap 26 siswa dengan menggunakan model PTK Robert P. Pelton. Penerapan metode dilaksanakan selama dua kali penerapan yang terdiri dari 2 x 35 menit. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah RPP, umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi, lembar observasi checklist dan lembar tes siswa. Hasil analisis data dan pembahasan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa setelah penerapan metode TPS. Hal ini terlihat dari jumlah siswa yang mengalami peningkatan pencapaian nilai KKM (Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal) yaitu 67. Persentase hasil belajar kognitif pada penerapan pertama adalah 53,86% dan meningkat menjadi 80,76% pada penerapan kedua. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode TPS dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada pelajaran IPA kelas VI melalui penerapan langkah-langkah metode Think Pair Share (TPS)./ Cognitive achievement is students' competence after receiving their learning experience and resulted in changes that could be seen from cognitive area. According to cognitive development theory students with age 11-12 are in operational formal stage with the characteristic students are able to think proportionally and are able to work on test which consist of C1 indicator (knowledge) and C2 (understanding). According to observation and teaching on grade VI at a Christian elementary school in Ambon, it was found that most of the students had problem on cognitive achievement in C1 and C2 indicators. The purpose of this research are to 1) know the implementation of Think Pair Share (TPS) method can improve students' cognitive achievement, and 2) explain the steps of the implementation of Think Pair Share (TPS) method can improve students' cognitive achievement. This research was conducted from July 16, 2018 - September 4, 2018 to 26 students with CAR model by Robert P. Pelton. The implementation of the method was applied in two plan activations of 2 x 35 minutes. The instruments which are used in this research are lesson plan, mentor feedback, reflection journal, observation checklist sheet, and students' test sheet. The result of data analysis and discussion show that there are improvement in students' cognitive achievement after the implementation of TPS method. It could be seen from the amount of the students who achieve the passing grade, which are 67, were improved. The percentage of cognitive achievement on the first plan activation is 53.86% and improved to 80.76% on the second plan activation. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of TPS method can improve students' cognitive achievement on grade IV Science through the implementation of the steps of Think Pair Share (TPS) method.
