Abstract

Hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas III pada mata pelajaran matematika di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo tidak sepenuhnya mencapai KKM, terdapat 20 dari 24 siswa yang tidak mencapai KKM. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, maka peneliti menerapkan metode improve untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada mata pelajaran matematika dengan topik operasi hitung penjumlahan dan pengurangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Robert P Pelton sebanyak dua kali penerapan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo dengan subyek penelitian sebanyak 24 siswa kelas III yang dilaksanakan pada tanggal 23 Agustus 2018 sampai 7 September 2018. Instrumen yang digunakan antara lain Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), umpan balik mentor, jurnal refleksi, lembar ceklis, dan hasil tes siswa. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode improve dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, pada penerapan pertama mencapai 88% dan terus meningkat hingga mencapai 100% pada penerapan kedua. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode improve dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas III di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Palopo dengan penerapan langkah-langkah sebagai berikut: memperkenalkan konsep baru, pertanyaan metakognitif, latihan, meninjau dan mengurangi kesulitan, memperoleh penguasaan, verifikasi dan pengayaan./ The 3rd students’ cognitive learning outcome on mathematics subject in a private Christian school in Palopo did not as the minimum grade. There were 20 out of 24 students that did not the passing grade criteria. To overcome the issue, a learning method; improve was utilized in order to improve the students’ cognitive outcome on the mathematics subject at the topic of addition and subtraction. This research was done by utilizing the Classroom Action Research (CAR) model of Robert P. Pelton in two plan applications. The research was do on a private Christian school in Palopo with 24 students as the research subject. The research was held from the 23rd of August to the 7th of September 2018. The instruments used in this research are; the lesson plan, mentor’s feedback, journal reflection, checklist form, and students’ test score. The result of the research showed that improve learning method increased students’ learning outcome, in the first treatment for 88% and the second treatment for 100%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of improve learning method could increase the 3rd grade students’ cognitive learning outcome in a private Christian school in Palopo by implementing the following steps: introducing the new concept, metacognitive questioning, practicing, reviewing & reducing difficulties, obtaining mastery, verification, and enrichment.
