Abstract

Pemahaman konsep merupakan salah satu hal yang penting dan harus dimiliki oleh siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Namun kenyataannya masih ditemukan banyak siswa yang lemah dalam pemahaman konsep pada mata Pelajaran IPA. Berdasarkan hasil tes ulangan harian siswa kelas IV.1 di SDK Kalam Kudus Kosambi Jakarta. Peneliti menemukan siswa kurang mampu memahami konsep akan materi yang diajarkan oleh guru sehingga berdampak pada rendahnya hasil nilai yang diperoleh siswa. Oleh sebab itu, peneliti memutuskan untuk menerapkan metode TPS sebagai solusi dari permasalahan tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah metode TPS dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa, serta bagaimana metode TPS dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa kelas IV.1. Pada penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan sejak tanggal 19 Oktober sampai 27 Oktober 2016. Penelitian dilaksanakan sebanyak dua siklus dengan melibatkan 22 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar tes, angket siswa, lembar observasi, serta jurnal refleksi peneliti. Hasil instrumen tersebut akan peneliti analisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menyatakan bahwa penerapan metode TPS, yang terdiri dari tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap think, tahap pair, dan tahap share telah meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Hal ini ditunjukan oleh tercapainya hasil tes dari seluruh indikator pemahaman konsep yakni siswa mampu menjelaskan dari 59% menjadi 91%, siswa dapat memberikan contoh dari 86% menjadi 100%, siswa mampu mengidentifikasi dari 45% menjadi 77%, dan terakhir siswa mampu memperkirakan dari 91% menjadi 86%. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemahaman konsep siswa dapat ditingkatkan melalui penerapan metode Think Pair Share./Concept understanding is one important thing that students must have in the learning process. Nevertheless, in reality many students are found to be weak in concept understanding in the subject matter of science. Based on the daily test result of students grade IV.1 of SDK Kalam Kudus Kosambi Jakarta, researcher found that students have poor understanding of the materials that are given by the teacher which caused students to have poor test grades. Therefore, researcher chooses to apply the TPS (Think-Pair-Share) method as the solution of the problem. The purpose of this research is to find out if the TPS method can be used to increase students’ concept understanding of the, and to find out how the TPS method can raise students grade IV.1 concept understanding. In this research, researcher uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) method starting from October 19th, 2016 until October 27th, 2016. The research is done in two cycles involving 22 students. Instruments that are used in this research are test sheet, students’ questionnaires, observation sheet, and researcher’s journal reflection. The result of the instrument will be analyzed by the researcher using descriptive qualitative approach. The result of the research shows that the TPS method, which includes the three steps of think, pair, and share, has increased students’ concept understanding during the learning process. This is indicated by the achievement of the result test from all indicators of concept understanding that students were able to explain from 59% to 91%, students can provide examples from 86% to 100%, the students were able to identify 45% to 77%, and last students were able to estimate from 91% to 86%. From these results, it can be concluded that the students' understanding of the concept could be improved through the application of Think Pair Share method.
