Abstract
Salah satu sekolah swasta di Jakarta memiliki misi untuk menanamkan nilai respect, responsibility, dan readiness kepada siswanya. Tetapi dalam pengamatan pada siswa kelas IX di sekolah tersebut, peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa menunjukkan perilaku yang sebaliknya. Siswa cenderung mengulangi perilaku negatif walaupun sudah mendapatkan hukuman dari guru. Minimnya perilaku positif pada siswa membuat peneliti memikirkan cara yang tepat untuk menangani hal tersebut. Berdasarkan permasalahan ini, peneliti merencanakan untuk menerapkan teori Discipline with Dignity untuk melihat peningkatan perilaku positif siswa dalam mata pelajaran sejarah. Peneliti menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas untuk melihat peningkatan perilaku positif siswa. Penelitian dilakukan sebanyak tiga siklus dengan melibatkan 27 orang siswa. Siklus dimulai pada 13 Oktober 2014 dan berakhir pada 15 Oktober 2014. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar observasi pribadi, lembar observasi mentor, lembar angket siswa, dan jurnal refleksi pribadi. Peneliti menggunakan metode analisis statistik deskriptif untuk menganalisis instrumen yang ada. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa upaya penerapan Discipline with Dignity dapat meningkatkan perilaku positif siswa. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan indikator perilaku positif siswa yang dicapai dalam setiap siklus. Lebih lanjut, peningkatan perilaku positif siswa terjadi karena adanya konsistensi dalam memenuhi dan menerapkan prinsip teori Discipline with Dignity.

One of the private schools in Jakarta has a mission to teach their students the value of respect, responsibility, and readiness. But, during the observation on the ninth graders in that school, the researcher found that the students showed the opposite behavior. The students tend to repeat the negative behavior although they have been punished by the teacher. The lack of positive behaviors in students make researcher think about the right way to handle it. Based on this issue, researcher plans to apply the theory of Discipline with Dignity to see the enhancement of students’ positive behaviors in the subjects of History. The researcher used Classroom Action Research Method to see the enhancement of students’ positive behaviors. The research conducted in three cycles by involving 27 students. The cycle was started on October, 13 2014 and finished on October, 15 2014. The instruments used in this research were personal observation sheets, mentor’s observation sheets, students’ questionnaire sheet, and personal reflection journal. The researcher used statistic descriptive analysis for analyzing those instruments. The results of the study showed that the application of Discipline with Dignity could enhance students’ positive behavior. It can be seen from the increase of students’ positive behavior indicator that achieved in each cycles. Furthermore, the enhancement of students’ positive behaviors can occur due to the consistency in applying the theory of Discipline with Dignity.
