Abstract

Covid-19 transforms three users of the school ecosystem: teachers, students and parents. This condition led the government to issue an online home-based learning policy. The problem arises when the intensity of activities to develop speaking and reading skills in English has decreased dramatically since the application of learning from home which can cause learning and literacy loss. The worry is that not all children are accompanied by parents or caregivers who speak English. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of Virtual Learning for the 2020/2021 school year on the ability to read and speak in English in K2 children in XYZ Kindergarten. This research is conducted in the middle of the program and after the ten children carry out a virtual learning program for 6 months. Data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and questionnaires with parents, Deputy Head Teacher, Teacher and assistant teacher as the respondents. Data validity was tested using triangulation techniques and the Pearson product moment formula. This research is Evaluation Study using the CIPP method (context, input, process, product) by Daniel Stufflebeam. The Data was analyzed using direct interpretation and descriptive statistics. The results showed as many as 90% of K2B children developed their speaking skills and 80% developed their reading skills. Based on the results of the study concluded that the Virtual Learning Program effectively supports the development of children’s speaking and read-ing skills. Daily routines, virtual meetings, teacher’s method and parents' support made the speaking and reading activities implemented smoothly and consistently./Covid-19 mengubah tiga pengguna ekosistem sekolah: guru, siswa, dan orang tua.
