Abstract

Home kit with learning materials may be one of the solutions to answer online class’s challenges during this pandemic time. Nevertheless, Home kit with only worksheets is not enough to attract the students to learn, causing the learning outcomes to be not optimal. There are less interactions compares to offline classes which make the students feel bored. The goal of this research is to improve the home kit by providing hands-on learning materials to increase the students’ interest in learning, the learning outcomes, and social interactions in class. Three cycles action research are done to 8 students in Twinklers class for 2–3 years old in KinderHaven Montessori Preschool from July to December 2020 during 30 minutes online class. Observation checklist, anecdotes, questionnaire for parents, and Curriculum Coordinator’s evaluation checklist are used to gather the research data. The result shows that hands-on learning materials increase the students’ interest in learning. The learning outcomes of the students are also meeting the goals in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas and the hands-on learning materials initiate social interactions in class. Parents also give positive feedback about the progress. In conclusion, the hands-on learning materials are effective to support the online learning method./Pemberian home kit berisi materi belajar menjadi salah satu solusi untuk menjawab tantangan kelas daring selama masa pandemi ini. Tetapi, home kit yang berupa lembar kerja saja ternyata tidak cukup untuk membuat peserta didik berminat belajar mengakibatkan hasil belajarpun menurun. Kelas juga terasa bosan karena kurangnya interaksi dibandingkan sekolah tatap muka. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk memperbaiki home kit dengan penyediaan hands-on learning materials yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan minat belajar, hasil belajar, dan interaksi sosial. Tiga siklus Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dilakukan kepada 8 peserta didik di kelas Twinklers usia 2–3 tahun di sekolah KinderHaven Montessori Preschool. Penelitian berlangsung dalam kelas daring yang berdurasi selama 30 menit dalam rentang waktu bulan Juli sampai Desember 2020. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan observation checklist, catatan harian guru, kuesioner kepada orang tua, dan evaluation checklist yang diisi oleh supervisor kelas. Didapati dari hasil penelitian, hands-on learning materials yang digunakan meningkatkan minat peserta didik dalam mengikuti kelas. Hasil belajar peserta didik pun mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan dalam ranah kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor. Interaksi sosial di kelas juga semakin meningkat. Orang tua memberikan feedback yang positif terhadap perkembangan yang terjadi pada para peserta didik. Dengan demikian, hands-on learning materials dapat menjadi solusi untuk menunjang pembelajaran jarak jauh.
