Latar Belakang: Setiap manusia memiliki kapasitas untuk memproses informasi dari sekitar kita, memproses informasi tersebut, menyimpannya dan kemudian mengingat informasi tersebut, bahkan sampai bertahun-tahun lamanya, proses ini menghasilkan sesuatu yang disebut memori. Masih sedikit sekali yang melakukan penelitian mengenai efek musik klasik terhadap kemampuan memori seorang individu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menginvestigasi efek musik klasik terhadap kemampuan kita mengingat kata dan juga angka. Oleh karena itu, peneliti merasa penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk memperoleh data yang nantinya akan di perlukan untuk menilai apakah ada hubungan antara musik klasik terhadap verbal short term memory. Tujuan Penelitian: Untuk mengetahui hubungan musik klasik terhadap verbal short term memory pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan Angkatan 2020. Hipotesis penelitian: Terdapat Hubungan Musik klasik terhadap verbal short term memory pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universita Pelita Harapan Angkatan 2020. Bahan dan cara penelitian: Bahan yang digunakan adalah data primer yang akan disebar melalui kuisioner, dalam bentuk google form dengan isi biodata responden, yaitu nama, usia, dan status kemahasiswaan, serta kuisioner PSS10. Lalu untuk performa verbal short term memory akan didapatkan melalui digit span test, yang akan didapatkan dengan cara wawancara. Kuisioner akan disebarkan pada media sosial seperti whatsapp dan line, kepada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan Angkatan 2020. Setelah itu, pengukuran dari Verbal Short Term Memory akan menggunakan metode Digit Span Test, responden akan menjalani Digit Span Test sebanyak dua kali, yaitu sebelum mendengarkan musik klasik dengan menggunakan headphones, setelah sudah selesai maka rangkaian tes yang kedua akan di jalankan, tetapi sebelum di mulai, responden akan dipaparkan dengan musik klasik selama 5 menit. Setelah selesai, maka rangkaian tes yang kedua bisa dimulai. Hasil Penelitian: Ditemukan hubungan yang signfikan antara musik klasik dan verbal short term memory dengan P-Value = < 0,001 untuk pengukuran ingatan maju (forward) dan P-Value = 0,007 untuk pengukuran ingatan mundur (Backward). Kesimpulan: Musik klasik pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan berhubungan dengan kinerja verbal short term memory. Kata Kunci: Musik Klasik, Verbal Short Term Memory, Digit Span Test / Background: Every human being has the capacity to process information from around us, process that information, store it and then remember that information, even for years, this process produces something called memory. Very few have conducted research on the effect of classical music on an individual's memory ability, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of classical music on our ability to remember words and numbers. Therefore, researchers feel that this research was conducted with the aim of obtaining data that will later be needed to assess whether there is a relationship between classical music and verbal short term memory. Aim: To find out the relationship between classical music and verbal short term memory in students of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pelita Harapan Batch 2020. Hypothesis: There is a relationship between classical music and verbal short term memory in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University batch 2020. Tools and Materials: The material used is primary data which will be distributed through questionnaires, in the form of a Google form with the contents of the respondent’s biodata, namely name, age, and student status, as well as the PSS10 questionnaire. Then for short term memory verbal performance will be obtained through a digit span test, which will be obtained by means of interviews. Questionnaires will be distributed on social media, such as whatsapp and line, to the 2020 batch of Pelita Harapan University Medical Faculty students. After that,the measurement of Verbal Short Term Memory will use the digit span method test, the respondent wil undergo the digit span test twice, namely before listening to classical music using. Short before starting the second set of test, the respondent will be exposed to classical music for 5 minutes Once completed, the second set of tests can begin. Results: A significant relationship was found between classical music and verbal short term memory with P-Value = < 0.001 for measuring forward memory and P- Value = 0.007 for measuring backward memory. Conclusion: Classical music among students at the Faculty of Medicine, Pelita Harapan University is related to verbal short term memory performance.
