Abstract

Herbalife merupakan perusahaan nutrisi yang hadir pertama kali secara resmi di Los Angeles, California Amerika Serikat pada tahun 1980. Pendirinya yaitu Mark Reynold Hughes dan juga sebagai distributor pertama dari Herbalife. Mark R Hughes memiliki tujuan dalam membangun dan juga menciptakan produk produk pada Herbalife yaitu sebagai produk asupan makanan nutrisi harian untuk masyarakat umum. Herbalife memiliki salah satu metode untuk membantu kelas menengah ke bawah untuk dapat mengkonsumsi produk mereka yaitu Klub Nutrisi. Metode tersebut dijalankan oleh banyak member Herbalife di seluruh dunia termasuk Indonesia. Klub Nutrisi Ica Ceria menjadi salah satu dari 1000 Klub Nutrisi yang ada di Indonesia. Konsumen dari Klub Nutrisi Ica Ceria tersebut masih ada yang memiliki persepsi bahwa produk Herbalife merupakan obat pelangsing atau obat kurus, yang sebetulnya bukan itu fungsi dari produk tersebut. Untuk itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor apa yang paling memengaruhi hasil persepsi dari para konsumen Klub Ica Ceria. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Pengumpulan data penelitian melalui data primer dan sekunder, yaitu wawancara dan observasi non-partisipan, serta studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi. Wawancara dilakukan kepada konsumen Klub Nutrisi Ica Ceria sebagai informan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga faktor penentu persepsi yang paling berpengaruh terhadap hasil persepsi para konsumen Klub Ica Ceria terkait produk Herbalife yang dianggap sebagai obat pelangsing atau obat kurus yaitu, Relation, Kebutuhan, dan Latar Belakang Budaya. / Herbalife is a nutrition company that officially open in Los Angeles, CA, USA since 1980. The founder and also as a first distributor of Herbalife company is Mark Reynold Hughes. Mark R Hughes had a purpose of creating and developing products of Herbalife as a daily nutrition supply for general public. Herbalife has one method to help the mid to low class to be able to consume their product the method called as Nutrition Club. The method is run by many Herbalife members worldwide including here in Indonesia. Ica Ceria Nutrition Club is one of the 1000 Nutrition Clubs in Indonesia. Consumers from the Ica Ceria Nutrition Club are still had the perception that Herbalife products are slimming drugs or thin medication, which is not actually the function of the product. Therefore, this study aims to determine what factors influence the perception of the consumers of Ica Ceria Nutrition Club. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive research method. Collecting research data through primary and secondary data, such as interview and non-participant observation, and literature study and documentation. The interview was conducted to Ica Ceria Nutrition Club consumers as informants. The result of the research shows that there are three determinants of perception that have the most influence to the perception result of Ica Ceria Nutrition Club consumer to Herbalife product as a slimming drug, those three factors is Relation, Necessity, and Cultural Background.
