Abstract
Referensi : 23 (2014- 2023)/Background: Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder that frequently coexist with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a condition known as overlap syndrome. This syndrome increases the risk of decreased quality of life and worsened prognosis. The presence of OSA in COPD patients can aggravate symtpoms and impair disease control.
Objectives: To determine the relationship between the risk of OSA and the level of COPD control in patients at Siloam General Hospital Lippo Village using the STOP-BANG questionnaire.
Hypothesis: There is a relationship between an increase in COPD control and a decrease in the risk of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Method: This study used a cross-sectional design. Samples were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using the STOP-BANG, CAT and MMRC questionnaire. The results were analyzed using the chi-square test.
Results: Most patients with moderate-severe OSA risk also had moderate-severe COPD control (97,8%), while patients with low OSA risk mostly had well-controlled COPD (72,7%). The Odds Ratio (OR) of 117,3 indicates a strong association between the two variables.
Conclusion: This study shows a significant relationship between the risk of OSA and the level of COPD control in patients at Siloam Hospital Lippo Village (p < 0,001; OR = 117,3).
