Abstract
The writer conducted research in the third grade of elementary school in Bekasi City. During the learning process, the writer finds students' indiscipline such as not raising their hands before speaking, cutting other people's conversations, and not focusing on learning. When students show an indiscipline attitude, it means that students need guidance from teacher in the learning process. So, the solution is applying the hand signal procedure in the class. As God's co-worker, a Christian teacher does not only deliver the material, but also helps students in improving student discipline so that students reflect the Christ ‘s character in their daily lives. This paper is written with a qualitative descriptive method which aims to explain the factors that cause students indiscipline during the learning process and the teacher's steps in implementing hand signal procedures to improve students' discipline. The results show that there is an increase in student discipline when the hand signal procedure is applied. The conclusion is hand signal procedure can improve students’ discipline. The writer suggests the next researcher can apply other class procedures to increase students’ discipline in the classroom. / Penulis mendapatkan kesempatan untuk melakukan penelitian di kelas tiga sekolah dasar di Kota Bekasi. Selama proses pembelajaran, penulis sering menemukan sikap ketidak disiplinan siswa seperti siswa tidak mengangkat tangan terlebih dahulu sebelum berbicara, memotong pembicaran orang lain, dan tidak fokus belajar. Ketika siswa menunjukkan sikap tidak disiplin itu berarti siswa sedang tidak mencerminkan karakter Kristus di dalam proses pembelajaran. Maka, salah satu solusi yang dapat guru lakukan yaitu dengan menerapkan prosedur hand signal. Sebagai kawan sekerja Allah, seorang guru Kristen tidak hanya mengajarkan materi tetapi juga membantu siswa dalam meningkatkan sikap disiplin siswa agar siswa mampu mencerminkan karakter Kristus di dalam kesehariannya. Makalah ini ditulis dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk menjelaskan faktor-faktor penyebab siswa tidak disiplin selama proses pembelajaran dan langkah-langkah guru dalam menerapkan prosedur hand signal untuk meningkatkan sikap disiplin siswa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya peningkatan sikap disiplin siswa ketika guru menerapkan prosedur hand signal. Penulis memberikan saran kepada guru dan mahasiswa guru agar dapat memakai prosedur hand signal untuk meningkatkan kedisiplinan siswa. Guru harus menerapkan prosedur hand signal dengan tegas, penuh kasih sayang, dan konsisten dalam mengingatkan siswa untuk mematuhi prosedur hand signal.
